Frederic Truong

Τον Ιούνιο του 2005 μια νέα καλλιτέχνης, φωτογράφος, που λατρεύει τη μουσική, μου έκανε δώρο ένα cd. Είχε διαλέξει μουσικές και τραγούδια που την εμπνέουν και ανάμεσα στα 17 tracks υπήρχαν τρεις συνθέσεις ενός συγκροτήματος που δεν γνώριζα, των Leitmotiv.

Πριν λίγες ημέρες έβγαλα το cd από το ράφι και το άκουσα ξανά. Ποιοι είναι αυτοί οι Leitmotiv; Ανέτρεξα φυσικά στο δίκτυο και ιδού τι έμαθα:

Οι Leitmotiv είναι το δημιούργημα ενός Γάλλου μουσικού από το Nancy, του Frederic Truong. Ξεκίνησαν το 1991 και το 2002 έκλεισαν τον κύκλο τους, όπως και η Karismatik, η εταιρεία παραγωγής του, που δεν κατάφερε να επιβιώσει.

Από τότε ο Frederic συνεχίζει μόνος του.

Η μουσική του είναι ένα soundtrack για τις βροχερές μέρες της άνοιξης (ας πούμε). Η πρώτη αίσθηση της θλίψης συνοδεύεται από το φως της καλλιτεχνικής του μαεστρίας, είναι προφανές ότι θα μπορούσε να είναι απολύτως εμπορικός αν το επιθυμούσε. Σε συνθέσεις όπως το αγαπημένο μου Cyclonique, συνυπάρχουν όλοι οι μουσικοί επηρεασμοί του. Από τους Tuxedo Moon μέχρι τον Eric Satie.

Το τελευταίο του άλμπουμ λέγεται “Apres l’ ete” και τον επόμενο χρόνο θα κυκλοφορήσει ένα νέο δίσκο με φιλικές συμμετοχές, όπως αυτή των Mecano.

In June 2005 a young artist, a photographer who adores music, offered me a gift. A "homemade" music compilation, with songs and instrumental tracks that inspire her with her work. I was impressed with three pieces, from a band I' ve never heard before, called “Leitmotiv”.

Just a few days ago I listened to that cd again. Curiosity hit me and I had to find out who this band was. I looked them up in the internet and here’s what I came up with:

Leitmotiv is – or better was – a band formed in 1991 by a French musician from Nancy. His name: Frederic Truong. They lasted since 2002 and after that Frederic continues a solo career.

His music is a soundtrack for the rainy days of spring. It perfectly combines a feeling of sadness along with the striking light of his artistic skills. It is obvious to me that if he wanted he could quite easily be more “commercial” but he deliberately chose not to be a market targeted musician. Watch his 2005 video clip for “Renaissance”, so you may better understand what I mean.

In some compositions, as my favorite Cyclonique, (from the Leitmotiv period) musical influences present themselves. From Tuxedo Moon to Eric Satie.

His last album is called “Apres l’ ete”. As for his plans, a new cd is due next year, with guests such as his friends Mecano.
